LANSING — State Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) has introduced House Bill 4784, which would exempt veterans from the recreation passport requirement. Essentially, the legislation would allow veterans, upon showing their government-issued identification card, to be granted free access to state parks.

LANSING — During yesterday’s hearing in the House Tax Policy Committee on the “Good Jobs for Michigan” bill package, state Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) questioned the priorities of the Michigan Legislature and Gov. Rick Snyder. Specifically, he asked about concurrent plans to attack teacher retirement and give a significant tax break to big corporations, which received hearings only hours apart.

LANSING — A bipartisan group of Michigan lawmakers detailed legislation today that would raise the state’s legal smoking age to 21 and make other important changes to the state’s tobacco laws.
