Transcript of Delay and Denial Trailer
Jo Anne Katzman: Having worked on the inside, I can tell you that no one is in good hands with Allstate, or any other insurance company in Michigan, until Michigan strengthens its consumer protection laws.
Kecia Milliner: I don't know how the insurance companies get away with it, I don't know how the doctors sleep, I don't know how the insurance adjusters sleep. Because there's no way that I could say that a child with a traumatic brain injury, the services that my daughter, she has to have those services. How could I say, you know what, we're gonna cut your child off, we're not gonna give her the services she needs. What's gonna happen to my daughter a year from now, two years from now, three years from now, ten years from now? I don't know they sleep at night.
Heather Sarazin: No, financially insurance companies put your through hell. There's no nice way to say it, when it comes to that. Um, we've depleted our 401(k)s, um, had to turn to family, to re-mortgage houses and condos, um, to make our bills so we don't lose our house. Trying to, uh, balance whether your kids are going to have a good Christmas or you're gonna have medication for your husband, or make your house payments is, is hard.
Jo Anne Katzman: To me it's criminal and they're not being held accountable. If you or I did something like that, we'd be in jail, and they're not.
Kecia Milliner: Why do we have insurance if, when it's time to make a claim, they're not gonna be there. They take our premium, gladly, and if we don't pay our premium then they're gonna cut us off and we'll be held responsible. Let's make the insurance companies responsible.
